According to Autoblog.it, Mercedes-Benz is planning to debut an unprecedented, the Mercedes-Benz CLE, in 2023. It will be positioned in between the Mercedes-Benz CLA and CLS in terms of size. Like the two models, the CLE will sport the four-door coupe styling.
For reference, here are the dimensions of the CLA and CLS:
Exterior dimensions | ||
---|---|---|
CLA | CLS | |
Length (mm) | 4,688 | 4,988 |
Width (mm) | 1,830 | 1,890 |
Height (mm) | 1,439 | 1,435 |
Wheelbase (mm) | 2,729 | 2,939 |
The Mercedes-Benz CLE will reportedly measure 4,850 mm long.
The Mercedes-Benz CLE will reportedly be underpinned by the MRA platform and will be available in either rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
Plus, there will be coupe, convertible, and estate versions of the CLE. To avoid overlaps and confusion, the coupe and cabriolet versions of the C-Class and E-Class will reportedly be dropped.
As for powertrain, it will mirror the options that are in the upcoming 2021 W206 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Which will likely be a range of 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines with different power outputs. Mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants are expected as well.
Currently, there is no Mercedes-Benz equivalent against the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe or the Audi A5 Sportback. So, it appears this rumour is entirely plausible.
