The largest national eSports racing event in Malaysia has ended

In the grand finals of the second season of the largest national eSports racing event in Malaysia - the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Velocity eSports Championship, the overall winners shared a prize pool of RM 70,000.

After an intense day battling with the top 10 best virtual racers in Malaysia, the championship winner of TGR Velocity eSports season 2 was crowned and went home with RM 20,000.

The media were treated to a quick test drive session during the launch of the all-new 2019 A90 Toyota GR Supra. The test drive was conducted on the grounds of Sempang Airport with the inclusion of a slalom course and high-speed run.

The GR Supra is powered by a B58 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six paired to a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission that sends 340 PS and 500 Nm to the rear wheels.

BMW 5 Series facelift rendered based on spy shots

Before the official debut of the BMW 5 Series sedan and wagon for as mid-cycle refresh, Kolesa.ru released its rendering.  Similar to BMW's new models, the 5 Series gains a larger kidney bean grille with a new fron-end according to the rendering.

Honda Civic continues to pull strong in USA

Despite being an aging model, the Civic appears to be unaffected by the new generation Corolla, with sales growing by 26 percent month-on-month in August, totaling 34,808 units.

According to a report by USA’s Automotive News, the Civic maintains an almost 20,000 cars gap lead over the Toyota Corolla’s cumulative sales for 2019.

 

Hyundai develops an airbag for the driver and front passenger

Similar to the Honda's ‘sandwich’ airbag, Hyundai develops a side-impact airbag. The new airbag will fill the center console space to cover the whole torso and head. It also features tethers to ensure the airbag stays in the right position to protect the front occupants.

Hyundai says this airbag is designed to protect the driver and front passenger from colliding during a crash. It says that it should reduce the chance of a head injury in such a situation by 80%.

Carmakers' no-deal Brexit warning grows more dire

Britain is scheduled to quit the EU on Oct. 31, but businesses have grown increasingly concerned at Prime Minister Boris Johnson's apparent lack of progress toward a new withdrawal deal. Britain's car industry is almost entirely foreign-owned and exceptionally vulnerable, as it is dominated by factories owned by German, French and Japanese automakers.

Groups including the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association, the European Association of Automotive Suppliers and 17 national groups warned of the impact of "no-deal" on an industry which employs 13.8 million people in the European Union including Britain, or 6.1% of the workforce, with the cost of just one minute of production stoppage in the UK alone amounting to €54,700.
