We have 2 national car brands, but still no product recall law, why?

A car has on average, about 30,000 to 50,000 parts, depending on vehicle type. Despite a manufacturer's best effort, every now and then, some defective parts will inevitably slip through. As cars get more complicated and consumer rights protection are strengthened in many parts of the world, it’s only natural for recalls to become increasingly common. As much as manufacturers try their best, there’s no such thing as a zero-defect manufacturer. The nature of how mass production work and increasin

Nissan Serena vs Toyota Voxy: Which family MPV should you get?

Let’s face it, for a lot of Malaysians, the ideal family mover is not that fancy SUV. Instead, the ideal family mover, especially for those with young kids or elderly parents, is an MPV. In Malaysia, the options for MPVs are aplenty, but we reckon that the ideal MPV is one that has powered sliding doors, thus narrowing down the selection by quite a fair bit. For those shopping for a family MPV, the most affordable option that features power sliding doors is a brand-new C27 Nissan Serena. Recond

Why did my airbags not deploy in a crash? Is it normal?

Explosions usually don’t save lives, but in the case of vehicle airbags, they do (they are the fastest method of airbag inflation). Almost all new vehicles in the world today come with airbags, and that gives us more confidence on the safety of ourselves and other road users. However, a case of undeployed airbags in a crash might make you contemplate how safe your car really is. “Are the airbags faulty?!”, “Why was there no recall?!”, “OMG, I could have totally died right there!”. A car crash ca

Spied: Spotted again, new 2021 Nissan Navara NP300 (D23) launching soon in Malaysia?

Malaysians are bound to welcome a slew of new pick-up trucks this year, and one of them is the 2021 Nissan Navara NP300 (D23) facelift that was spotted recently. The photo - shared to us by a WapCar.my reader - gives us a closer look at the updated pick-up truck. Looking at the chrome grille garnish and dual-tone wheels, this appears to be the VL 4WD variant. Another clue to that is the '4WD' decal on the rear quarter panel - a trait we noticed on the last spyshot. Also read: Spied: 2021 Nissan

Why the current-generation Nissan Almera still makes sense for some

To some, the Nissan Almera is an easy target to hate on – it’s far from being good-looking, and rivals such as the Honda City and Toyota Vios have practically made the Nissan irrelevant. With that said, we reckon that the market still has a space for the Almera. Here’s why. For starters, the Almera is a massive upgrade for people that are upgrading from much older cars; think Nissan Sunny, Perodua Kancil or Proton Iswara and you’ll get the picture. Despite having just 2 airbags and ABS, the Alme

Why is ETCM so generous in giving the Malaysian-spec all-new 2020 Nissan Almera a turbo engine?

It is official – the upcoming all-new 2020 Nissan Almera for Malaysia will be getting a turbocharged engine, replacing the outgoing model’s naturally-aspirated unit. On the surface, it appears that Edaran Tan Chong Motor, the official distributor of Nissan vehicles, has wisen up and decided to give Malaysians a better powertrain than before. But is that really the case? Well, the actual reason is due to the fact that ETCM does not have any other engine option to offer in the all-new Almera. Let

Why the all-new 2020 Nissan Almera will be a turning point for ETCM

Before we get started, let’s get this out of the way – the current-generation Nissan Almera is anything but desirable.
