The 2023 BMW XM might shock the world with its pair of kidney snouts grilles when it was unveiled in September but it represents the electrified future of BMWβs coveted ///M Division.
If you dig the controversial styling, BMW Malaysia has just announced that bookings are open for the first dedicated BMW M model since the M1. Prices for the mammoth plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV start from RM 1.4 million or RM 820k if you were to purchase it in tax-free Langkawi.
Itβs probably cheaper than a ticket ride to Mars or developing a despicable machine to bring down the Moon but this is an absolute beast in both weight and looks.
At 2,710 kg, itβs heavier than a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, and helping to move this planet-sized SUV is a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine (489 PS/650 Nm) that is supplemented by an electric motor (197 PS/280 Nm). Combined, the BMW XM makes 653 PS/800 Nm.

In full-electric mode, the XM has a range of 88 km and is juiced up by a 25.7 kWh battery. Charging up the XM from 0-100% takes 4 hours and 15 minutes via a 7.4 kW AC outlet.
The upcoming Malaysian-spec BMW XM will feature the M Aerodynamics Package and M High-Gloss Shadow Line, with Extended Contents available for the Shadow Line profile as standard.
Other than that, Adaptive LED headlights with High-beam Assistant are also included as standard.
The excessively massive BMW XM is only available in limited units and for a million ringgit, would you want to take a stab at the first dedicated electrified M model?
