Basic information of my car:

2013 Peugeot 408 1.6 Turbo

Reasons why I bought this car

I am looking for a powerful yet comfortable car for long distance cruises & daily used. Previously I owned 2004 Honda Accord 2.0 which provide sufficient power & comfort for long distance cruises & daily used but it due to the age, I believe its time for a change.

Car Selection Process

I had a budget of:  25K.

Models that I’ve considered included : 2010 Nissan Teana, 2009 Nissan Sylphy & 2008 Honda Accord

The interior well equip, easy to reach button, have rear passenger aircond vent, folded 60:40 seat, huge cargo space, small engine with turbo (power but cheap on roadtax & insurance), reliable 6speed auto and reasonably cheap market price.

User experience

  • I have already done 12000km.
  • My average fuel consumption is 10L/km

I am very lucky to bought the car from previous owner who have been taking care of the car and after owning it, Since owning it, I have done gearbox, engine oil changes, oil catch can mod, turbo inlet feed hose, turbo servicing & new tyres as most of the major parts have been replaced or service by previous owner.

During my first 1 week of owning, the check engine light come out and the reason was a nut was not tighten properly and have cause the air leak. The repair was reasonably cheap at RM50 to replace the seal and after that works as new.

I have been traveling to PENANG-KL-MELAKA and nothing excite me more than driving this, enough power to "play" and the stability during high speed (130-150km/h) is good and give you the confident and cabin well insulated however anything above 170km/h would definitely not comfortable as you will feel every single "waves" on the road plus the cabin will start to felt noisy. I have plan to install the racing bar in future to improve stability.

Connering on the other hands simply good, and the steering is firm which allowed driver to feel confident to take any conner. Brake on the other hand I felt it wore off quite fast and cost slightly expensive compare to Accord in my opinion.

The interior well equip, easy to reach button, have rear passenger aircond vent, folded 60:40 seat, huge cargo space, seat position very spacious including back passenger leg room even im 185cm with big build would felt comfortable seating back.

Pros of my car:

  • powerful turbo 1.6 prince engine
  • 6 speed AISIN gearbox
  • premium interior
  • rear back aircond vent
  • sleeper look
  • sexy design
  • 6 Airbags

Cons of my car:

  • fuel consumption
  • some major parts expensive
  • Cup holder not well position
  • rubber parts cannot withstand Malaysia hot weather

Ratings:

Total Score: 4

Performance: 4

Quality & Features: 4

Space: 5

Ride Comfort: 5

Fuel Economy: 3

Price & Cost: 4

Summary :

The repair and maintenance of this car are more or less equivalent to owning an Accord in my opinion. The replacement parts are not that expensive, you just need to know which shop to send caused not everyone know how to handle this type of car and yes, if you send it to the wrong shop its gonna cost you arm and leg.
