Lies: Promised 3 mins frequency on KJ LRT line by Nov, but got 16 stations closed

Caretaker Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has been put on blast for various reasons regarding the recent Kelana Jaya LRT Line fiasco that saw Rapid KL close 16 stations for a week from today (9-November-2022).

If you haven’t realised it yet, the MCA president has not made one comment at all regarding the disruption of the KJ Line service in downtown KL. His silence has been highlighted by not just opposition politicians, but also social media users.

“Where is Wee?” asked PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil on Twitter.

Wee’s last post on his official Facebook page was at 2 pm today, which is the fifth day the KJ Line suffered from an Automatic Train Control (ATC) system malfunction. As of 5 pm today, Wee still hasn’t issued a statement on the matter.

But Wee’s silence wasn’t the only thing that he was criticised for, netizens are also pulling up past remarks that Wee has said regarding the LRT service.

Back in June, the Transport Minister had promised that the frequency for the KJ Line service will return to the ideal frequency of three minutes in November. Instead of the promised three minutes, now commuters have to wait seven days for a train.

The KJ Line started experiencing disruption on Saturday (5-November-2022) when one of the ATC’s electric components malfunctioned causing a loss of signal between the control centre and the train.

Though Rapid KL managed to rectify the issue, the same malfunction occurred again on Sunday, Monday night, and once again on Tuesday evening.

As of the time of writing Rapid KL has yet to identify the cause of the issue. The train operator ensures the public that they are working closely with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) Thales Group from Canada to find short- and long-term solutions.
