New 2023 Honda City facelift leaked, gets Civic-inspired looks, March debut likely

News surrounding the upcoming 2023 Honda City facelift have been circulating for more than a month, but that was with said B-segment sedan heavily camouflaged.

And now, we have our first good look at Honda’s upcoming refreshed sedan, courtesy of a set of leaked photos from Autocar India and Headlightmag.

Up front, the refreshed Honda City will receive a slimmer chrome trim that sits atop an equally new grille with honeycomb inserts. The honeycomb design is similar to the current City RS, albeit on the facelift, the pattern is significantly larger.

Further down there’s also a new front bumper. While the City facelift will get an inverted lower air intake as the current model, the design is new, with the model now getting a new pattern for the lower air intake. There are also new front fog light surrounds, which are reminiscent of the ones found on the larger Honda Civic.

Towards the rear, these leaked photos show that the facelifted Honda City will get a larger and more angular rear diffuser piece, giving it an even more aggressive stance.

Stepping inside, it appears that changes to the cabin appear to be minimal, at least according to these leaked photos. The beige interior seen here is unique to the Indian market; our ASEAN-spec car gets a classier full-black cabin.

That said, some Indian automotive portals have reported that the City facelift could receive updates like a wireless charger and ventilated seats, matching its rivals.

City RS' 1.5-litre petrol-electric, two-motor, full-hybrid shown

Powertrain options are expected to remain unchanged. The popular B-segment sedan is offered with a range of engines, including a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre 4-cylinder (121 PS, 145 Nm), 1.5-litre petrol-electric two-motor full-hybrid (109 PS, 253 Nm), as well as a turbocharged 1.0-litre 3-cylinder (122 PS, 173 Nm). The former two are options offered here in Malaysia.

The B-segment race is definitely heating up – Toyota just released the D92A / AC100 Vios a couple of months ago and Nissan is working on a facelifted Almera. The facelifted City is definitely needed for Honda to remain competitive in this hotly-contested segment.

The same source also claimed that Honda could debut the facelifted City as soon as early-March, slighlty more than a week to go.

Here in Malaysia, the current Honda City is priced between RM 77,600 to RM 108,800.
