![Proton sales in Malaysia, April 2024: X90 falls behind CX-8, S70 stays ahead of Civic 01]()
Proton's sales in Malaysia for the month of April 2024 reached 11,025 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 17.1% compared to the same month last year in which the company sold 9,415 cars.
In total, the carmaker has sold 50,175 units within the first four months of 2024, surpassing the 49,702 cars sold within the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, its export sales have seen a 38.5% uptick year-to-date with 835 units moved; better than the 603 units this time last year.
Proton estimates its market share for April to rest at 18.7%, forecasting a 19.2% year-to-date market share, which means the company keeps its second place in the overall national automotive sales ranking.

In terms of specific models, the Proton X50 reclaimed its position as the top-selling B-segment SUV, while the Proton S70 continued to lead in C-segment sedan sales for the fourth consecutive month, ahead of pricier rivals like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis.
The Proton Saga remained popular among buyers, with 5,031 units sold in April and year-to-date sales up by 8.8%.
Meanwhile, the X90 stays in second place of the D-segment category (behind the Mazda CX-8), with 312 units sold across the first four months.
