Volvo cars now get 8-Year hybrid battery warranty at no extra charge

From 1 January 2020 onwards, all Volvo plug-in hybrids sold in Malaysia will be covered with an 8-Year warranty for the hybrid batteries with no extra charge.

Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) is now the leader in hybrid battery warranty coverage for PHEVs in the premium segment. BMW Malaysia and Mercedes-Benz Malaysia offer 6-Years/100,000 km warranty for their hybrid battery.

According to Marketing and PR Director of VCM, Akhtar Sulaiman, this is their assurance to customers on Volvo’s electrified powertrains and represents the next step in VCM and Volvo Group’s commitment towards electrification.

Currently, VCM offers the S60, S90, XC60 and XC90 with the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain. Volvo’s T8 models use a 2.0-litre supercharged and turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired to an electric motor to give a combined output of 407 PS and 640 Nm of torque. This engine also allows up to 50 km of pure electric commute.
