Cars are usually built to look tough, fast and sleek, all points that would appeal to the general car buyer who majority are, well, men. But throughout the years since Karl Benz first invented the car, car companies have made efforts in creating cute looking cars. Here are our top picks of the world’s cutest cars ever made.   

Audi TT

If there ever is an affordable sports car that would appeal to women it is the Audi TT. The Mk3 generation’s short body, rounded curves and sophisticated looks have drawn the eye of many and the wide array of bright colours also help increase the car’s cute appeal as well.

BMW i8

The i8’s looks appeal both men and women, when in motion, the i8 is a sleek hybrid machine with the famed BMW handling, but open both butterfly doors and you will have a car that resembles a little hopping bunny. Unfortunately, BMW has since discontinued the car as of 2020.

BMW i3

BMW’s i-Project seem intend on churning out adorable cars. While the i8 stole the show with its powerful and cute bunny rabbit looks, the i3 is a much more understated hatch that features suicide doors. While the i8 is the sports car, the i3 is the practical cute car to own.

Honda E

The Honda E is Honda’s full electric hatchback and will soon be made available in Europe this year. The design cues might be reminiscent of the first-generation Honda Civic, but you can’t help comparing the E with Pixar’s adorable Wall-E.

Google Car

This is one car that was built deliberately to look cute since Google gave it eyes, nose and indicator lights that resemble a set of lips. While the autonomous self-driving car is still not production ready and Google has entirely hand over the project to their spin-off company called Waymo, we still wouldn’t mind being a proud owner of the nerdy looking robot car.

Mazda/ Autozam AZ-1

The cutest range of cars is no doubt Japan-only Kei-cars, probably because of their small bodies and equally small engines. The mid-engine Autozam AZ-1 came along just as the classic Kei-sports cars were taking the world by storm in the early 90s. It is distinctive by its rounded headlights that give the little car an innocent but sporty look.  

Suzuki Cappucino

Yet another classic Kei-sports car that stole our hearts back win the early 90s, the Suzuki Cappucino might look more like a modern MX-5 with its longer snout, but it was still firmly placed in the cute category.

Daihatsu Copen

The Daihatsu Copen has the power output of a Perodua Kancil and has headlights that are shaped like a smile. The overall look is one that induces most people to let out a unanimous “aww”. Daihatsu in Indonesia officially put the car on sale for a brief period and there were rumours that Perodua was also looking to bring the car to Malaysia as well back then. Will you buy the Copen if it ever becomes a Perodua though? We would.

Honda S660

First impressions of the S660 is that it’s a baby Honda NSX, with its short wheelbase and short overhang it really does remind one of a hissing, spitting little kitten trying to live up to the big brother’s name.

Daihatsu Taft

Yet another car that reminds one of cute hissing kittens is the Daihatsu Taft (pronounced Tafuto). Look closely, does it not remind you of a tiny Hummer? This modern-day Kei-car will soon be hitting roads of Japan starting this year.

Suzuki Hustler

 A direct competitor of the aforementioned Taft, the Hustler is yet another cute Hummer-looking Kei-car with headlights that looked like they have eyelashes. If there is a car that looks cute, it is one that looks like it has eyelashes.

Fiat 500

Fiat might not be well-known for reliability and good quality cars but they do create some of the cutest cars in the world. The Fiat Panda is one example, but the car is not as popular as this Fiat 500. The 500 still remains as the favourite choice for a teenager’s first car in Europe.

Renault Twingo

Even from the time it was launched in 1992, the Twingo has always been an adorable little hatchback, whether it in its 3-door or 5-door form. The current Twingo III is said to be very popular with women in Europe and we can totally see why.

Geely Panda / LC

Once upon a time, Geely produced this little hatchback as the entry level car for the brand. The rounded edges paired with round headlights and smiling grille really do remind us of a happy well-fed panda especially when the car came in white. Unfortunately, Geely has since replace the Panda with the Yuanjing X1 that did not carry over the Panda’s cute looks.

Daihatsu Boon 

Disappointed that the Geely Panda is no longer available? Don't worry, Daihatsu has the Boon that closely resembles the Panda's rounded cute looks. Would you take this over the Perodua Myvi? 

BMW Isetta

When BMW needed an affordable small car to feed the economic downturn after WWII, they came up with the BMW Isetta. The quirky little car has only 1 door and the steering wheel was mounted on the door itself. It was understandably a huge hit with the ladies of the 50s and sealed itself as one of the world’s cutest cars of all time.

Austin-Healey Sprite

They just don’t build cars that would put a smile on your face just by looking at it anymore. Though the Sprite was affectionately nicknamed the “frogeye” and “bugeye” thanks to the protruding headlights, the roadster still appeals to car lovers of this generation.

Meadows Frisky Friskysport

The Frisky car project is a series of small cute cars, there were cars shaped like beetles and cars with gullwings, but the cutest of them all is this 1958 Friskysport, a little convertible shaped like a row-boat.

Nissan Figaro

Yet another convertible that would immediately put a smile on your face is the Nissan Figaro. Contrary to how it looks, the Figaro was produced in the early 90s and 20,000 units were produced.

Fiat Jolly

This little car is a mix of quirkiness, Italian charm, and uniqueness all rolled into one package. The car doesn’t have doors, has a canopy for roof and rattan woven seats. It was created for those living by the sea which made having the rattan seats practical though we’re pretty sure the car would never pass today’s safety standards.

Citroen 2CV

It isn’t the most reliable car in the world, but its odd shape and classy tuxedo looks certainly amassed a massive following and enthusiast until today. This is yet another car with rattan seats though in newer version they came with beach chairs instead.

Nissan S-Cargo

Not only does this car have a unique name, but it actually looks like a snail. Despite its very French name, the S-Cargo was produced in 1989 and was meant for the Japanese market only but the van’s cute looks caught international attention and became well coveted as the van to have for retro lovers.

Paul Vallee Chantecler

Talk about unique looking cars, this little three-wheel blimp of a car came complete with eyes, nose and a pleasant smile. The original idea was a scooter to cater to the post-war recovery period, but Paul Vallee hadn’t been able to keep his love for race cars out of the design and the final product had turn into this bulbous car.

Peel P50

Behold the smallest production car ever made, according to the 2010 Guinness World Records that is. The P50 reminds us strongly of the Renault Twizy doesn’t it?

Volkswagen Dune Buggy (ID Buggy)

Before the special Dune editions that Volkswagen has introduced on the Beetle, the German giant really did produce this VW Dune Buggy. Famous celebrities like Steve McQueen and Elvis Presley were proud owners of the Buggy. VW tried to give the Dune Buggy a comeback but it came powered by an electric motor instead.
