JPJ counters and Puspakom nationwide to close during MCO 3.0 total lockdown

In light of the 2-week (June 1 – June 14) total lockdown during the third round of the Movement Control Order (MCO), the Ministry of Transport (MOT) has ordered all agencies to close their counters.

The agencies affected by the order are:

• Road Transport Department (JPJ)
• Puspakom
• Land Public Transport Agency (APAD)
• Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP)
• Sarawak LPKP

All services will be put on hold except for commercial vehicles used by operators listed under the essential services sector and requires the vehicle to cross state borders. Those who fall in this category will have to register for an appointment with the relevant counters.

As counter services will be stopped during what media are dubbing Full MCO (FMCO), MOT has introduced various measures to allow road users more leeway throughout MCO 3.0.

JPJ

No action will be taken on drivers or riders whose driving licenses, motorcycle licenses, or vocational licenses will expire between 1-June and 31-June-2021. They will be allowed to extend the use of their licenses as long as they have active insurance.

Like the expired road tax, all drivers need to do at roadblocks is to show a valid insurance e-cover to authorities.

Drivers and riders are required to renew their licenses within 60 days starting from 1-August to 30-September-2021.

Services for transferring vehicle ownership at counters will be closed for the time being, JPJ encourages the public to make use of online portals like e-auto or MyEG to carry out their business for now.

JPJ kiosks, however, will be open during the FMCO. The kiosks within JPJ premises will be open from 8.30 am to 4 pm, while kiosks located outside of JPJ premises will operate from 6 am to 8 pm.

JPJ encourages all kiosk visitors to adhere to the standard operating procedures set by the National Security Council (MKN).

APAD and LPKP

The Ministry of Transport has agreed to allow the following license and permit holders to continue operation even after its expiry date with the condition that the holder has a valid insurance cover:

• Operator’s License
• Commercial Vehicle Permit
• Tourist Vehicle License
• Driver’s Card

Puspakom

All Puspakom validity will be extended for the duration of MCO 3.0.

MOT is encouraging all road users to carry out relevant services via the various online agencies during the total lockdown.
