2022 Kia K5 gets new logo, more standard features to edge out the Sonata

Kia Motors Corporation has introduced their updated 2022 Kia K5 with a slight visual retouch and a standardisation of more features across the range, for a minimal price increase.

Besides the new 'Kia' emblem the range gets, the K5 HEV (hybrid) variant differentiates itself further by getting a more stand-out version of its gloss black, 'shark skin' patterned grille.

The new logo - a stylised, somewhat abstract take on the brand name - looks simple, but lends a sharper look to the car, gelling better with the design than the old oval logo.

Across the petrol-powered assortment, the base and mid-range Trendy and Prestige variants now get several new standard features.

The former now receives a leather, heated steering wheel, while the latter standardises forward parking distance warning.

Meanwhile, the top two variants - Noblesse and Signature - adds wireless smartphone charging as standard.

Meanwhile in the United States, their K5 range also get a similar line of updates including a new standard sunroof, additional wireless chargers, and an optional package for their range-topping GT-Line AWD.

Available only in left-hand drive (LHD), Korean Car Blog reports that the K5 has been "steadily loved by customers", with a total of 112,581 units sold from December 2019 to May 2020. Last year, it topped Korea's mid-size sedan sales chart with 79,072 units sold, overtaking the Hyundai Sonata.
