Old vs New: 2022 Honda Civic FE - Looks more premium or boring?

The all-new 2022 Honda Civic (codenamed FE) just had its ASEAN debut in Thailand. Our colleagues at Autofun Thailand went up close and personal with it and here are some live photos, compared side-by-side to its predecessor, the FC-generation Honda Civic.

Note that the Honda Civic FE seen here is the Thai-spec RS variant. Local specifications may differ when it arrives.

Exterior

As reported earlier, the range-topping RS variant in Thailand gets 17-inch wheels, unlike the 18-inch units seen in international markets. There’s also an RS badge located right above the grille opening.

The RS variant also sports blacked out trim pieces with side mirrors, door handles, shark fin antenna, wheels, and spoiler finished in gloss black.

Unlike the previous FC-generation Civic with the hidden exhaust tips, the Civic FE now flaunts its twin tailpipes.

Dimensions wise, the Civic FE has grown ever so slightly larger than its predecessor, sitting just a hair lower whilst measuring longer and wider than before.

Interior

Inside, the layered style interior design has been dropped in favour of a more simplistic layout.

There’s a large horizontal stretch of metal with honeycomb design element that adds a nice visual touch and hides the air vents. Materials and build quality are said to be taken up a notch from before.

Infotainment

Infotainment display has gone up in size, measuring 9-inch in the range-topping RS variant compared to 7-inch from before.

While our colleagues at Autofun Thailand weren’t able to subject it for measurements, they noted that legroom appears to have been slightly improved from the already spacious FC-generation Civic.

When will the 2022 Honda Civic FE be launched in Malaysia?

Honda Malaysia previously hinted that the all-new 2022 Honda Civic could arrive as early as late-Q3 / early-Q4 this year.

However, much has changed since then with restricted economic activities during the National Recovery Programme. Hence, it’s safe to say the Malaysian launch has been delayed.

Rowan Atkinson drives H2-powered Toyota GR Yaris and calls EV race cars "washing machines"

Known more for his portrayal as the child-minded, red-necktie-wearing, teddy bear-hugging man behind a green Mini with a number plate that spells out SLW, Rowan Atkinson, the man, is an accomplished person and a huge petrolhead. However, the comedian caught a lot of flak from EV enthusiasts when he published a column in The Guardian stating that the whole environmentally-friendly image of EVs is nothing more than lies. In short, he was tricked, bamboozled, lied to, and whatever other vocabulary
