CKD 2021 Peugeot 3008 & 5008 facelift launched in Malaysia to rival Honda CR-V, from RM 161k

Prices start from RM 161,616 (pre-facelift was RM 158,616) for the 2021 Peugeot 3008 and RM 177,311 (pre-facelift was RM 173,311) for the 2021 Peugeot 5008, which is inclusive of the SST exemption.

Both the new 2021 Peugeot 3008 and 2021 Peugeot 5008 are locally assembled (CKD) at the Stellantis manufacturing plant in Gurun, Kedah. The Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 have collectively endured 300,000 km of testing in Malaysia’s climate and environmental landscape.

Powertrain is carried over from before for both models - the 1.6-litre Twin Scroll Turbo High Pressure (THP) engine, which delivers 167 PS and 240 Nm of torque. The 4-cylinder turbocharged engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that powers the front wheels (FWD).

On the outside, a new frameless grille is featured at the front, while gloss black side scoops and a painted treadplate are integrated with the new bumper design as standard. The nose of the bonnet now displays the model's monogram, as does the entire Peugeot range.

The front headlights have also been redesigned to be more aggressive and feature LED technology with cornering lamps. At the rear, new upgraded taillights feature full-LED technology with Peugeot’s 3D-effect claw signature with scrolling indicator lights.

Both feature 18-inch alloy wheels albeit different designs; Los Angeles Wheels on the 3008 and Detroit Wheels on the 5008. Both also get hands-free power tailgate, panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, as well as front and rear parking sensors.

On the inside, the difference between both models is the seating capacity. The Peugeot 3008 features a 5-seater configuration whereas the Peugeot 5008 features a 7-seater configuration.

Both models feature Peugeot’s digital i-Cockpit technology which consists of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a compact steering wheel, and a new 10-inch capacitive touchscreen display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also come as standard.

It also comes with seven elegant piano-styled "toggle switches" that allow direct and permanent access to the main comfort functions such as audio, air conditioning, navigation with voice command, vehicle settings, telephone, mobile applications and hazard warning lights. New to both models is wireless smartphone charging located at the centre console.

In terms of safety, both models still come up short in the ADAS department unfortunately, featuring only Active Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Monitoring. No AEB or ACC here.

There’s Advanced Grip Control, allowing more optimization of the traction control system with 5 grip modes (Normal, Snow, Mud, Sand, and ESP off), selected via a rotary dial in the centre console. There’s also Hill Assist Descent Control that lets the car control its pace on steep slopes.

The new 2021 Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 come with a 3-Years Free Service Maintenance with a mileage limit of 60,000 km, whichever comes first. Both the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 also come with a standard 5-Year/100,000 km manufacturer warranty, whichever comes first.
