Bye-bye Perodua Alza – to be discontinued after Feb 2022, Aruz as sole 7-seater

After being on the market for 12 years, the Perodua Alza will cease to be produced at the end of January 2022 and set to be phased out in February 2022, reports Paultan. The report also states that the reason for phasing out the Alza is due to exhaust emission regulations.

Sources close to the matter at hand say that Perodua dealers are still accepting orders for the Perodua Alza, to clear whatever little remaining stock left.

All-new 2022 Toyota Avanza

The next-generation Perodua Alza is rumoured to be a twin model to the all-new Toyota Avanza but it won't be introduced so soon, as the Avanza donor car had only made its debut in Indonesia earlier this week.

Also, over the next few months Perodua will be quite preoccupied with the new 2022 Perodua Myvi that will be launched next week, and fulfilling its many outstanding orders caused by the semiconductor chip shortage.

For now, the Perodua Aruz will now be the sole 7-seater model for the company.

To recap the Perodua Alza’s history, the model was introduced in 2009 and had multiple refreshes over the years, though the changes were mostly cosmetic save for the ISOFIX child seat anchor points in 2014.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre DVVT engine that makes 104 PS and 136 Nm of torque, mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
