A Ford Mustang Malaysia club convoy has been a hot topic across the internet recently. But it wasn’t the convoy that sparked criticism from social media users, it was the fact that Road Transport Department (JPJ) cruisers were spotted escorting the convoy.
In various videos uploaded on social media, users are accusing JPJ officers of showing preferential treatment for turning a blind eye to the various illegal modifications as well as the dark tinting on the cars.
They explained that the dark tinting on the Mustangs was approved by JPJ before installation as the owners had applied for the use of the darker tinting due to health and safety concerns.
JPJ Perlis also further clarified that JPJ officers were sent to accompany the Mustang owners to ensure the convoy would not cause any traffic congestions and also cause any inconveniences to other road users.
The JPJ officers separated the convoy of over 50 cars into groups of 10 or 12. Each group has a JPJ lead car of its own.
