The Ford Ranger WildTrak Sport is Malaysia’s best lifestyle truck (yet) for work, family and play

If the Ford Ranger Raptor is a rally truck, then the recently launched Ford Ranger WildTrak Sport is a lifestyle outdoor adventurous  truck for the streets and weekend getaways off-road.

Based on the Ranger WildTrak and although it’s positioned one rung below the range topping Ranger Raptor, we see the new Ranger WildTrak Sport as the better buy.

The thinking man’s Ranger Raptor is how we will describe it.

With the WildTrak, you save about RM 55k over the Raptor, enjoy the same 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine makes 213 PS / 500 Nm, 10-speed automatic transmission.

Sure you don’t get the Raptor’s Baja Mode in its 4WD Terrain Management (but it’s otherwise identical) and Fox Racing Shox dampers, but you get adaptive cruise control and front parking sensors – things that you get to use far more often than rally specs suspension.

The new Special Edition WildTrak Sport is available in two colour options – Saber Orange and Absolute Black, priced at RM 158,388, on-the-road excluding insurance in Peninsular Malaysia.

Visually, it stands out from the regular WildTrak by a matching set of black, urban truck lifestyle-theme styling upgrades.

The Special Edition Ranger WildTrak Sport adds the following items:

  • New front grille design
  • Ebony black wing mirrors
  • Black lift handle
  • Black door handles
  • 18-inch Black alloy wheels
  • New illuminated front scuff plates with logo
  • Leather embossed seats
  • Steering wheel with stitching

Like the regular Ranger WildTrak, the WildTrak Sport retains the same high level of safety features, including 6 airbags, Hill Descent Control, Hill Launch Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with Vehicle and Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning and Assist.

It’s also covered by a 5-years / 160,000 km warranty, whichever comes first. That’s not all. The new Ford Ranger WildTrak Sport Special Edition also benefits from an 18-month free service package, valid only for purchaces made between now until 31-December 2021.
