Reasons why I bought this car

Bought this car to replace my old 2013 Kia Sportage for my daily commute to work and to everywhere.

Car Selection Process

I had a budget of: 160k

Models that I’ve considered included : Honda CRV1.5 TC, Mazda CX-5 2.0, Proton X70

Reasons why I chose this car

Main factors that influent my decision were the reliability of Kia cars as I am the 6 years owner of my old Kia Sportage. Aside from this its the powerful diesel engine, two tone interior color, 5 years free services and warranty. Lastly, will be the handling and ride comfort. Handling can be as good as Mazda CX-5 and ride comfort at the firm side however it didn't sacrifice the comfort. It's suspension absorb the bumpy road very well especially on high speed and very compliance during taking the speed bump.

User experience

  • I have already done 41700km.
  • My average fuel consumption is 7.7KM/L

Satisfaction is the only word to describe my ownership. The high torque diesel engine always put a smile on me whenever I put my feet down on the pedal. After sales service was uncertain during the process of taking over by Bermaz from Nazakia, however I can see the improvement since the ownership of Kia had been took over by Bermaz. Again, 5 years free service and warranty put peace in mind for the next 5 years of my ownership.

Pros of my car:

  • High torque from the 400nm diesel engine.
  • Comfort although slightly on the firm side, suspension very compliance on bumpy road.
  • Handling similar and comparable to continental rival.
  • High build quality and reliable.
  • Blink spot warning and high resolution reverse camera.
  • Smooth 8 speed torque converter gearbox, the best drive-train to match with the high torque engine.

Cons of my car:

  • Do not come with active cruise control.
  • No 360 cameras but no issue for me as it come with front and rear parking sensor with a high resolution reverse camera.
  • No active brake assist and lane departure warning, however I can live without it.

Ratings:

Total Score: 4

Performance: 5

Quality & Features: 4

Space: 4

Ride Comfort: 5

Fuel Economy: 5

Price & Cost: 5

Summary :

In this price range, there is no rival can compete with it especially on the engine and gearbox. During my purchase, Mazda CX-5 do come with 2.0D model but the price is close to 200k. Fuel consumption is another factor, as I am traveling about 80-100km daily but I only need to fuel up once per week.

Lastly :

No major issue since the purchase except for the claimed for door handle key less entry button and the power window auto up/down function that sometime work sometime not. Warranty claims were easy and smooth.
