Intoxicated Perodua Myvi driver charged guilty! But only 6 years and RM 8,000 fine

The sentencing is out for the Perodua Myvi driver who killed a navy officer over the weekend in Johor. Nur Fatin Nazrah Suhaimi, 23, pleaded guilty to 4 charges and was sentenced to 6 years and an RM 8,000 fine.

Magistrate Suhaila Shafi’uddin, who passed sentence on Nur Fatin, has also ordered the accused to pay an additional fine of RM 3,300 for three other offences for driving without a valid driving license and driving a vehicle without road tax and insurance.

Nur Fatin, a factory worker in Johor, is still undergoing a fifth charge of self-administering drugs in an offence under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

The accident in question involved Nur Fatin’s Perodua Myvi, a Honda Accord driven by Mohd Rizal Buseri, 31, and a Proton Iswara driven by Chang Ah May, 78.

Mohd Rizal Buseri died at the scene after sustaining severe head injuries during the horrific accident. He was buried on Sunday with a navy send-off.

If you’re wondering what happened to the heavy punishment of up to 20 years and RM 150,000 fine for reckless driving and causing death that has been much talked about lately, fortunately for Nur Fatin, these amendments that will be made on the Road Transport Act 1987 Section 41(1) soon has yet to take effect.
