All-new 2020 Kia Optima ditches the 3-box design for a sleek fastback design

The 2020 Kia Optima gets a radical change in its design from the outgoing generation, now with a fastback sloping roofline akin to an Audi A7.

Inspired by the texture of shark skin, the grille is said to give a powerful and sporty image. The headlamps are seamlessly intergrated with the grille, featuring a unique daytime running light signature, which Kia calls ‘heartbeat’.

Further enhancing its four-door coupe appeal are the frameless doors, with the chrome trim now extending around the rear of the car from door to door.     

Dimensions wise, the 2020 Optima is both longer and wider than the outgoing model. It measures 4,905 mm in length (+50 mm), 1,860 mm in width (+25 mm) with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm (+45mm). In regards to height, it is lower at 1,445 mm (-20 mm).

The chrome trim can be seen from the rear on the base of the windscreen going around from the sides. The taillamps unites the front with the ‘heartbeat’ signature, which extends across the width of the car.

It gets a range of wheel sizes and designs starting from 16-inch to 19-inch finished in different colours.

The all-new Kia Optima will go on sale in Korea come December. As for other markets such as ours, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more details but don’t be surprised if it arrives in 2021.
