First Polestar 2 in Malaysia, 470 km range and below RM500k price?

We’ve seen a few interesting updates on electric cars in Malaysia this year. A new addition to the electrified news this year would be this Polestar 2 electric car in Malaysia (the one and only?).

We have officially welcomed the MINI Cooper SE electric car and Porsche Taycan to our shores. We’ve also seen glimpses of an MG electric car. Now for something Sino-Swedish - the Polestar 2 in Malaysia.

If we’re not mistaken, this is the only Polestar 2 in Malaysia right now and it is for sale at Vision Motorsports. This is a UK-spec car, parallel imported to Malaysia.

We don’t have the final figure on the price yet but we hope for the Polestar 2 to be a sub-RM500k price electric car.

The Volvo DNA is obvious since the Polestar 2 is based on the Volvo XC40. Powered by 2 electric motors, the total power output is 407 PS (300kW).

The version that we see here is equipped with the 78 kWh long-range battery. That should give about 470km of range on the WLTP cycle.

The body type is a mix of sedan, hatchback, and crossover.

The profile is that of a sedan, the ride height is that of crossover, and the boot opens like a hatchback.

DC fast charging is rated at 150 kW while AC charging is at 11 kW.

You can adjust charging properties

Only Android Auto is available for now and connection can only be done through a USB C cable. Future Polestar 2s will get Apple CarPlay.

USB C only

While the body type may be a little radical, the overall look of the Polestar 2 is still digestible.

Design lines are futuristic but more on the conservative side.

Driving dynamics can be adjusted with some electrified additions.

With a 300kW power output, feel free to calculate the road tax with our guide.

Although there is only one in Malaysia for now, it is a great addition to the electrified line-up in Malaysia for 2020.

Not push-to-start anymore

Are you excited about the Polestar 2 in Malaysia?

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr
