The all-new 2021 Subaru Levorg has won the Japan Car of the Year (JCOTY) 2020-2021. It scored a total of 437 points, comfortably surpassing the runner-up which is the Honda Fit (Honda Jazz) that scored 320 points, and the Toyota Yaris with 300 points.
JCOTY praised the Subaru Global Platform that “provides a high level of both maneuverability and comfort”, the newly developed direct injection turbocharged engine with good drivability, the up-to-date interior, and the precise “EyeSight X” ADAS system.
To recap, the 2021 Subaru Levorg sits on the new Subaru Global Platform and gets a turbocharged 1.8-litre flat-four making 177 PS and 300 Nm, paired to a CVT.
The interior features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster (only on EyeSight X-equipped variants) and 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment dominating the centrestage.
While EyeSight is standard on all variants, higher trim levels will net buyers EyeSight Plus or EyeSight X, both of which come with extra tech such as a 360° camera and advanced cruise control that supports hands-off driver assistance at low speeds.
