The Daihatsu Hijet Sporza is a RWD drifting pasar malam truck

Previously, we showed you the cutest camper truck in the world with the Daihatsu Hijet Jumbo Camper Ver. Now, let us introduce you to its more performance-oriented sibling, the Hijet Jumbo Sporza Ver.

Introduced at the virtual-only 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon, this Hijet speedster had its entire roof chopped and the only frontal protection is a tiny windscreen. It’s goodbye aerodynamics and hello eating bugs unless you wisely decide to wear a helmet.

To ensure the structural rigidity of this speedster truck, the bed has been reinforced. Daihatsu has also lowered the suspension and even adjusted the wheel’s camber slightly. It is also running on brakes taken from the Daihatsu Copen.

Aesthetically, this racy Hijet definitely looks ready to conquer the racetrack with some stickers and a large number 60 on the doors to commemorate the Hijet’s 60th anniversary. Placed on all four corners of this fast-looking trucklet are 15-inch forged TE37s on semi-slick Yokohama Advan A050 tyres.

Though it looks track-ready, this Hijet speedster won’t be making waves with its performance. Powering it is a turbocharged 660 cc 3-cylinder EF-DET engine (64 PS/107 Nm) mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The engine is placed in the middle and is rear-wheel drive, which means it will be fun on the track as seen in the video.

As awesome as it looks, the Hijet Sporza is a one-off skunkworks project. Still, that gives an interesting idea of a kei-truck racing series, don’t you?

Oops... Something broke.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr
