The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has arrested a man suspected to be the driver of the Perodua Myvi in the viral car crash circulating on social media yesterday. The suspect could be seen in various videos attempting to run away from the scene but witnesses managed to prevent him from escaping.
Selangor Traffic Investigation Unit (JSPT) Chief, Superintendent Azman Shari’at told media that the van driver suffered from severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment in Serdang Hospital red zone.
After he was captured, the 26-year-old suspect has now been handed over to the Serdang Investigative Unit (BSJT) for further action.
According to a statement issued by BSJT, the unit is still awaiting more information on the van driver’s identity from the hospital staff for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Myvi driver’s urine tests returned negative for drugs. BSJT will be conducting an alcohol test on the driver who has no previous criminal record.
The suspect will be remanded according to Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
