New Mercedes-Benz EQB revealed, 7- seater EV to be made in China

Mercedes-Benz has revealed its latest EV, the new Mercedes-Benz EQB. Due to launch this year, the new Mercedes EQB is the third EV in 2021 from Mercedes-Benz after the EQA and EQS.

Chief Design Officer of Daimler Group, Gorden Wagener said, “With the all new EQB we have created an iconic electric SUV that takes the heritage of our boxy off-road vehicles and transforms this into the future.

We combine the significant boxy silhouette with futuristic elements such as the black-panel front to create the extraordinary look of the vehicle”

Based on the Mercedes-Benz GLB, the EQB is a family-oriented EV with an optional 7-seat configuration. The third-row seats can fit people up 165 cm tall, and child seats can be fitted there too.

To be sold in Europe and China in 2021, the European version will be made in Hungary while the China-specific version will be made in Beijing.

The EQB will be sold in USA by 2022.

In Europe, the EQB will be offered in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions with various power levels, some rated over 271 PS.

To be launched as the EQB 350, Mercedes’s new EV will have a range of 478 km (WLTP), thanks to a usable battery capacity of 66.5 kWh. A particularly long-range version is also planned.

In China, the new EQB is being launched as a fully equipped top-of-the-range model with AMG Line, 7 seats as standard, and an output of 292 PS.

The EQB features intelligent driving assistance systems with cooperative support for the driver. Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Brake Assist are fitted as standard.

Production of the EQB will commence in 2021 at two sites forming part of the production network of Mercedes-Benz Cars - the Hungarian Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét for the global market and at the German-Chinese joint venture BBAC in Beijing for the Chinese market.
