From RM 139,888, the 2021 Hyundai Elantra Executive wants you to ignore the Mazda 3 1.5

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has introduced a new Executive variant for the 2021 Hyundai Elantra, priced at RM 139,888 (OTR without insurance and SST), which is RM 19,000 less than the Premium variant. Both variants are fully imported (CBU) from South Korea.

What’s the difference?

Most of the differences are found within the interior. For starters, the seats are upholstered in fabric instead of leather. Also, the seats are manually adjusted and there are no heating nor ventilating function. The instrument cluster is analogue compared to the Premium variant’s fully digital unit.

Next, there’s no heating function for the steering wheel (although we’d wager most Malaysians wouldn’t miss this function), no auto-dimming rear-view mirror and no wireless charger.

The most notable difference would be the exclusion of ADAS. The Executive variant of the 2021 Hyundai Elantra omits the Front-Collision Avoidance Assist (AEB), Lane Keeping Asisst, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (ACC), High Beam Assist, and Driver Attention Warning.

However, the Executive variant does come equipped with Blind Spot-Collision Warning (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic -Collision Warning (RCTA), Safe Exit Warning, and Rear Occupant Alert.

What’s shared between the two variants?

Both are equipped with LED headlamps and taillamps, 17-inch wheels, and the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.

Both variants are powered by a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine that makes 123 PS and 154 Nm of torque. Drive goes to the front wheels through the Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), which is Hyundai’s in-house developed CVT.

Both are equipped with 6 airbags, ESC, TC, Downhill Brake Control, Hill-start Assist Control, Brake Assist System, and Vehicle Stability Management and Immobiliser.

The 2021 Hyundai Elantra comes with a five-year/300,000 km warranty, whichever comes first. It is available for viewing at all Hyundai showrooms nationwide.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just canโ€™t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyotaโ€™s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr
