As we were digesting news that the VW Arteon R-Line facelift is now open for booking, our friends at Funtasticko couldn't help but notice something rather interesting. In the official preview picture below, away from the Arteon R-Line at a distance, sits a silhoutte of an SUV. What could it be?

Upon a closer look, it does appear to be the silhoutte of a VW T-Roc, the marque's compact SUV. Is this a teaser of things to come? Will we get the VW T-Roc here to spice up a segment already containing established players like the Honda HR-V, Toyota Corolla Cross, Subaru XV, Proton X50 and Mazda CX-3?
Upon closer scrutiny, the facelifted Arteon R-Line's preview picture looks like it was adapted for Malaysia from an existing one. The original picture is an international market picture of the VW Arteon R, replete with German plates. The plates were edited for local use, but the T-Roc in the background remained.
Interestingly, none of our neighbours in the region get the T-Roc officially as well, so, we might be reading a little too much into this. At best, take this with a pinch of salt.
Regardless, wouldn't it be great to see the VW T-Roc here? Especially in a segment predominantly Japanese-flavoured. Maybe VPCM is indeed teasing us, or maybe it's really nothing. Who really knows?
