2021 MINI JCW 3 Door facelift arrives in Malaysia - priced from RM 311k, gets you 231 PS

Joining the facelifted 2021 MINI 3 Door range that arrived last month is the John Cooper Works (JCW) version. It boasts the same visual updates and is fully-imported from the UK, with an asking price of RM 311,259 (OTR without insurance, inclusive of SST discount and extended warranty with service package).

Powertrain is unchanged from before; the B48 2.0-litre turbocharged engine makes 231 PS and 320 Nm of torque (up by 39 PS/40 Nm from Cooper S). Drive is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. 0-100 km/h takes 6.1 seconds and tops out at 246 km/h.

Like the recently launched 2021 MINI Cooper S range, the front grille is larger than before and extends to the bottom edge of the bumper. The side scuttles are also revised and the headlights are adaptive LED units with matrix function. Wheels are 18-inch items on run-flat tyres.

The rear bumper features a massive diffuser with central twin exhaust tips. A rear spoiler completes the JCW treatment.

Inside, the MINI JCW has a redesigned steering wheel that features horizontal spokes with a new look for the lower spoke, and buttons which are integrated on an even surface with a Piano Black finish. The air vents have been redesigned as well.

The 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system runs on the latest operating system and supports Apple CarPlay. There’s a new 5-inch digital instrument cluster and wireless charging. The head-up display and Harmon Kardon sound system remains as before.

As with the rest of the MINI 3 Door range, the Driving Assistant package comes as standard, which includes AEB, LDW, high-beam assistant and Parking Assistant.

The new MINI JCW 3 Door is available at all authorised MINI dealerships nationwide from 1st July 2021. However, in accordance with the latest Movement Control Order, dealerships will be closed for physical viewing and customers are encouraged to view it online via the MINI Malaysia website.
