2020 BMW 8 Series gets a ‘Golden Thunder’ edition in Europe

BMW has just released a BMW 8 Series ‘Golden Thunder’ edition. It’s only avaliable in Europe for all 3 body styles of the 8 Series - Coupé, Convertible, and Gran Coupé.

Exterior

With the Golden Thunder edition, you’ll get accents of gold paintings on the front and rear bumper lip, the side skirts, rims, side mirrors, and the M rear spoiler. The M Sport package is also standard here. 

BMW only offers the Golden Thunder edition in either Sapphire Black or Frozen Black.

Interior

Inside you’ll find gold stitchings on the leather seats, gold centre console trim, and the ‘Golden Thunder’ badge sewn onto the headrest. 

As standard for all 3 body styles, you’ll get half-bucket leather seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, and a 10.25-inch BMW navigation system.

Available engine options for the 8 Series 'Golden Thunder' edition include:

• 840i - 3.0-litre turbo straight-six petrol (340 PS and 500 Nm)

• 840d - 3.0-litre turbo straight-six diesel (320 PS and 680 Nm)

• M850i - 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol (537 PS and 750 Nm) 

In Malaysia, BMW Malaysia only offers 2 variants of the 8 series, which is the 8 Series M850i xDrive Coupe and the 8 Series 840i Gran Coupé M Sport priced at RM 1,088,800 and RM 968,800 respectively.
