We’ve just spent a few moments with the BMW iX to bring you some detailed photos, such as the engine bay. If you’ve tried Googling photos of the BMW iX’s engine bay, you would only be able to see a BMW iX with a cut-out on the bonnet, none in which the bonnet is actually open with a view inside.
There’s a good reason for it, BMW discourages users from opening the bonnet as there are no user serviceable items within the bay. And let’s face it, the vast majority of new car owners rarely open their bonnets anyway.

But if you’ve bought one and insist on opening it, here’s how. There’s no bonnet release lever that you would find in most other cars. Instead, there are two release cables situated at the left and right edge of the dashboard.
Simply pull them in sequence, be it left or right first, and the bonnet catch releases. Do note that there are no hydraulics nor stands to support the bonnet when it’s open, and one way to do so is to use an Allen key.

And there we have it, the engine bay of the BMW iX. Not much to see here, just the 12-volt battery and the coolant reservoir, neither of which requires attention from the owner.
