W223 Mercedes-Benz S580e: Price confirmed at RM 698,744

Two months after the all-new W223 2022 Mercedes-Benz S580e plug-in hybrid (PHEV) made its Malaysian debut, price is now confirmed at RM 698,744.

As before, the luxury sedan from Mercedes-Benz is locally-assembled (CKD) at their plant in Pekan, Pahang.

Motivation for the sole Mercedes-Benz S580e variant comes from a petrol-electric, turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Combined system output for the S580e is 510 PS and 750 Nm, sufficient to propel the 2.4 tonne sedan from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds.

Being a PHEV means that it can travel on electric propulsion alone. Thanks to its 28.6-kWh battery pack, the S580e can travel up to 100 km under the WLTP cycle.

Seeing that the Mercedes-Benz S580e is their flagship model (barring the Maybach range), it also gets decked out with all the bells and whistles, including Digital Lights up front, Airmatic suspension, a 12.8-inch vertical infotainment display, and a 760-watt Burmester sound system.

It’s also properly safe, as the W223 S-Class is the first production car to offer rear frontal airbags, as well as the full Driving Assistance ADAS suite.

The hybrid battery in the 2022 Mercedes-Benz S580e is covered by an 8-year/150,000 km warranty, whichever comes first.
