NEW UPGRADES: 1.6 Turbo Proton Preve, starting RM 64,730

A new Proton Preve facelift was here, with two variants available – the 1.6 Executive CVT (RM64,730) and the 1.6 Premium CVT (RM72,510). Five colours were prepared for this generation – Ruby Red, Carnelian Brown, Graphite Grey, Sterling Silver and Cotton White. Price indicated is an on-the-road price with a five-year or 150,000 km warranty included.

The price for both variants is risen, especially for the Executive one with RM4,120 more than the last generation, but more enhancement was also coming in for the upgrades. So the money goes to the improvement of NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) level by implementing rubber seals; along with the interior design levelling-up, including pillars, the carpet for the trim itself, and also the shifted garnish, radio.

There were not that many exterior changes, except wing mirrors and the strip bar both on the grille and under the boot-lit are blackened out in this generation. The former 16-inch Alloy is turning into 17-inch wheels in the Premium 2018.

Money also goes to a new engine and transmission, where the naturally-aspirated manual transmission is ditch from this generation. Both variants comes with the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 138 hp at 5,000 rpm and 205 Nm of torque ranging 2,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm. As for the transmission, it’s a 7-speed CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) driving the front wheels.

Six airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), stability control, ISOFIX are entering in as the standard safety system. Other than that, the Preve also has projector halogen headlamps, fog lamps, multi-connect radio and audio connectivity in terms of technology.

For the Premium version, you can also expect LED Daytime Running Lights, automatic headlamps, cruise control, auto-folding wing mirrors, paddle shifters, a push start, automatic climate control, and touchscreen navigation.
