Could this 190 PS, 300 Nm Geely Preface be the next Proton sedan?

Recently, images of the production version of the Geely Preface have surfaced, hinting at what could be the next Proton Perdana/Preve.

Geely Preface Concept for reference

Much of the production version of the Geely Preface is carried over from the concept version that was shown back in 2019, including the revised front grille with vertical slats, aggressive front bumper, and sleek rear-end.

That said, features like the slim side mirrors and suicide doors remain as concept-only features.

Built on the CMA platform, the Geely Preface is 4,785 mm long, 1,869 mm wide, and 1,469 mm tall. Its wheelbase is 2,800 mm.

These dimensions put the Geely Preface in between the larger D-segment Geely Borui (4,986 mm x 1,861 mm x 1,513 mm, 2,870 mm wheelbase) and C-segment Geely Binrui (4,680 mm x 1,785 mm x 1,469 mm, 2,670 mm wheelbase).

As such, it’s safe to say that the Preface is positioned as an upper-C/lower-D segment model. For reference, the current Honda Accord-based Proton Perdana comes in at 5,020 mm long, 1,845 mm wide, and 1,475 mm tall. Its 2,800 mm long wheelbase is identical to the Preface.

Proton will be launching a new sedan in 2021 and 2022. Could the Preface be part of that?

For the Chinese market, the Geely Preface is fitted with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that does 190 PS and 300 Nm.

Would you put your money down for one if Proton offered the Geely Preface as the next-gen Perdana/Preve?

Oops... Something broke.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr
