Rendered: 2022 BMW 7 Series - Did someone order more grille?

The next generation BMW 7 Series, codenamed G70, was spotted testing in Germany with heavy camouflage. Artists have gone to work based on the spyshots available and here is one of them.

Do bear in mind that early test mules are typically covered with additional panels to hide some of the design elements, so renderings may not be entirely accurate at this point. Having said that, it’s still interesting to see what the 2022 BMW 7 Series could look like.

Starting with the front grille of course, which appears more three-dimensional and ever so slightly larger. But the biggest change has to be the split headlamps design. If this comes to fruition, it would the first BMW with separated lights.

The rendering also shows a flap on the front left fender, denoting a plug-in hybrid. Expect a raft of powertrain options from combustion engines to all-electric powertrains. According to BMW Blog, the range-topping variants will not be powered by a V8 or a V12. Instead, it’ll be fully electric.

The 2022 BMW 7 Series is expected to debut some time in late 2021, with market launches beginning in 2022.
