The Reveal Of Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class At The 2019 CES

In Las Vegas, the ongoing 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) flaunted us the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class. The new model is going to key markets this year and will be manufactured at the Kecskemet plant in Hungary.

From the outside, we notice that this emotive compact four-door coupe resembles the larger CLS-Class. Compared with the new A-Class (W177), the CLA-Class features 18 individually controllable LEDs which separate it from the former one.

“With the first CLA we created a totally new segment with a four-door coupe and celebrated a huge success by selling some 750,000 CLA and Shooting Brake,” said Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales.

The new edition of the CLA featured a new operating system and enjoys the bonus of being sportier than its predecessor in an intelligent way.

Low height matched with a wide, planted stance is necessary for being a standard coupe, and dimensions of the all-new CLA-Class well-matches the criteria. The width has grown significantly to 1,830 millimetres, over 50 millimetres more than the last generation. The all-new CLA-Class shares the same wheelbase with the all-new A-Class sedan and hatchback. Frameless doors continue to be a highlight in this version.

With the overall vehicle lowered by 2 millimetres, occupants enjoy 17 millimetres more headroom at the front, while the space in the rear only increased by 3 millimetres.

Peeking inside, the all-new CLA-Class has the same interior design as the other new compact A-Class siblings. The renowned MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) system are updated to manage more complex queries. For example, sports results, calculations, general knowledge, as well as eateries matching the specific demand of the driver.

The enhanced MBUX Interior Assist features interface through non-contact hand gestures. The 'smart' lighting system is thoughtfully applied. The setting is the unoccupied front passenger seat in the dark will illuminate automatically if a driver reaches over.

During a demanding or monotonous journey, the new service-based Energizing Coach will give the driver a poke by recommending one of the Energizing programmes

A turbocharged 2-litre engine was deployed to the CLA 250, propelling 225 hp and 350 Nm of torque, transmitted to the wheels via a 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission.

Once the all-new CLA-Class officially goes on sale, more engine options, as well as an all-wheel-drive configuration will be available. A comfort or sporty setting is optional for the adaptive suspension system. Advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) from the S-Class also spreads to the all-new CLA-Class. The new four-door coupe is capable to drive semi-autonomously in certain situations.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr

Review: BYD Dolphin in Malaysia - A solid choice for EV beginners, except for one thing

You might be aware that Malaysia prohibits the import of electric vehicles (EVs) priced below RM 100,000, and this is indeed accurate. The rationale behind this policy, driven by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), is actually sound when you consider their goal of attracting investments in the EV sector. In the world of technology, most of the valuable stuff is in the higher-end product range. Cheaper electric cars have minimal technological sophistication; they're kind of li
