Hyundai Elantra snaps up an award at the 2020 Good Design

The newly launched 2021 Hyundai Elantra now has a new accolade under its belt as it was recognised by the panel of judges at the 2020 Good Design awards. But the Elantra is not the only winner from Hyundai that won an award.

The seventh-generation Hyundai Elantra won hearts at the awards thanks to its Parametric Dynamics design elements like the parametric-jewel-pattern grille and H-tail lamp. It was also credited for its 10-inch touchscreen display and an infotainment system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Hyundai 45 EV concept car

Alongside the Elantra, Hyundai Motor’s 2 EV concepts, the 45 EV concept and Prophecy concept, also received an award each.

The 45 EV concept car was first introduced at the 2019 Frankfurt International Motor Show. The styling of the 45 is defined by its monocoque-style form, aerodynamics, light-weight design inspired by aircraft, and the new Hyundai signature diamond-shape silhouette.

Come this year, the concept will be the base of the first model under Hyundai’s dedicated electric vehicle (EV) brand and will be known as the Ioniq 5.

Hyundai Prophecy concept car

The Prophecy concept car was unveiled in March 2019. It features Hyundai’s new Sensuous Sportiness design identity on an EV. As the Prophecy concept came after the 45 EV, it expanded on Hyundai’s vision of the EV future.

One last award that Hyundai picked up is for its Hyundai Hi-Charger. The 350 kW ultra-fast charger will eliminate the hassle of charging cables and make charging EVs a much easier task.

In Malaysia, Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) only recently launched the newly minted Good Design winner Hyundai Elantra on our shores.

The Elantra is Malaysia is fully imported from Korea and available only in one variant. It is powered by a 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated SmartStream engine mated to an IVT (Hyundai’s version of a CVT) that outputs 123 PS and 154 Nm.
