Kia has officially given the third generation Kia Picanto a mid-life facelift in Korea. The new A-segment 2021 Kia Picanto now features a whole host of new safety upgrades and advanced infotainment upgrades.
The Picanto facelift gets a new 1.0-litre EcoPrime naturally aspirated petrol engine (76 PS / 95 Nm) that has better fuel efficiency at 15.4 km/l. That's a 5.9 percent improvement over the previous engine. In Korea, the Picanto is sold as the Kia Morning and it is offered only with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine.
Changes were mostly cosmetic while the interior remains largely the same. As noted earlier in spy shots, the new Picanto will sport a revised tiger-nose grille up front, restyled lower grille, and boxier front and rear bumpers.
The head and tail lamps were slightly tweaked for a sportier look. Kia has also upgraded the wheels to 16-inch as standard (previously 14-inch on Malaysian market models) to compliment the new sportier and boxier design. The Picanto also gets a new colour scheme named “Honeybee”.
On the inside, the Picanto gets a new 4.2-inch full colour MID in the instrument cluster, as well as a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment allows users to connect two Bluetooth devices simultaneously, features a built-in wireless navigation system, and cloud-based voice recognition using Kakao’s AI platform.
New safety features on the new Picanto includes Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear-Cross Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Land-Keep Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Driver Attention Warning.
In Malaysia, the Naza Kia has discontinued the Kia Picanto to focus on the Kia Seltos and 11-seater Kia Grand Carnival.
