BMW Malaysia has more subsidised child safety seats on offer for the B40 income group

BMW Malaysia first introduced their child safety seats subsidy programme in December 2019. Only 150 child seats were available at that time but BMW Malaysia received over 25,000 applicants. This has prompted the company to put plans of a second phase of the programme in to action.

The subsidy programme is part of BMW Malaysia’s BMW Safety 360-degree initiative in partnership with the Safe ‘n Sound Childline Foundation. BMW Malaysia hopes to help out parents of the B40 income group by making child safety seats more accessible at a subsidised price of RM 100 each.

The second phase is focussed on those who have registered for the subsidy programme back in December but were unable to secure a child seat due to limited numbers.

The child seats that are included as part of the subsidise programme include includes the snskidz Ace infant carrier car seat (for newborn to 13kg), the snskidz Sport car seat (for newborn to 18kg) and the snskidz Proto (for 2-year-olds to 36kg).  All snskidz child safety seats carry the ECE R44-04 certification.

Each of the snskidz child safety seats will be made available with the RM50 in subsidy amount, on top of a discounted price from Safe ‘n Sound that is exclusive for recipients of the subsidy programme. The snskidz Ace will be available at a subsidised price of RM99 (RRP: RM199) while the snskidz Sport and snskidz Proto will be priced at RM169 (RRP: RM269) and RM249 (RM349) respectively.

This round is made possible thanks to supporters like Shopee as its exclusive E-Commerce Partner alongside baby and children goods brands - KU.KU Duckbill and Otomo, educational toys and games distributor - Mideer, food storage sealing solutions provider - Ankou, and car performance parts and accessories provider – Kakimotor.

Shopee is also offering further support to make distributing the child seats easier. Recipients of the subsidy programme will receive a unique Shopee voucher worth RM113 which can be applied upon checkout.

BMW Malaysia hopes to continue their subsidy programme to help the rest of the 25,000 registrants that were not given the subsidy this round. They, along with the Safe ‘n Sound Childline Foundation have even started a public fundraiser on the Shopee microsite created especially for the programme.
