Over 1,600 EVs, 3,000 xEVs delivered by BMW Malaysia this year; expands mobile EV charging

BMW Group Malaysia announced today that over 1,600 units of electric vehicles (EVs) in BMW, MINI & BMW Motorrad EV have been delivered in eight months this year. This far surpasses the total of 1,557 units of BMW & MINI EV delivered by the group in 2022.

Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “I'm happy to share with all of you that we at BMW are the leading provider of premium electrified vehicles in the country. Surpassing our total deliveries in 2022, over 1600 EVs delivered in just the first eight months of this year in 2023. 

“With over 3000 successful deliveries of electrified (xEV) BMW and MINI vehicles year to date, it is about 25 percent of our overall deliveries. We remain on the right track steering Malaysia towards the more electrified future.”

BMW Group Malaysia also announced their latest initiative make EV charging more accessible and convenient for all. Building upon Gentari’s EV charging infrastructure nationwide, the two organisations are now bringing Charge Go to life — a mobile EV charging service that can provide on-the-go DC fast-charging.

De Visser emphasized, "We are thrilled to bring our mobile charging vehicle concept – one that we unveiled earlier this year, to life with Gentari. Our partnerships with key players like them underscore our belief that industry-wide collaboration is the engine driving the transformation towards an Electric Future.

"We hope to inspire more players in this field to elevate their commitment to electrification, collectively enriching the local EV ecosystem. This collaboration will be made available towards end of 2023.”

Shah Yang Razalli, Deputy CEO of Gentari and CEO of Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd said, "The launch of Charge Go with BMW is another innovative solution that exemplifies Gentari's customer-centricity.

"This mobile charging solution is a product of the collective effort amongst local industry players, including SMEs, to strengthen the local EV ecosystem in coming up with our very own and locally designed solution in this space.  This solution, the first of many to come from Gentari, aims to bolster range confidence, making the transition to EVs an easy one.”

BMW Group Malaysia is also collaborating with local charging providers, ChargEV, alongside JomCharge & Gentari to offer exclusive unlimited-charging packages for BMW and MINI EV owners in Malaysia.

From 1-October to 31-December 2023, the first 200 registrants of BMW and MINI EV owners can purchase the package for RM 2,400 and RM 1,800 respectively from any of the aforementioned charging providers.

The package provides unlimited charging at all ChargEV or JomCharge & Gentari facilities nationwide for 12 months upon activation and is only valid for use by the specific EV that was registered during sign-up.

BMW Group Malaysia demonstrates commitment to driving sustainable mobility for Malaysia with the latest ‘Forwardism, by BMW’ event located next to the Mandarin Oriental KL.

Members of the public will be able to view and experience the BMW i7 up close and explore the BMW Group's vision for sustainability under one roof. ‘Forwardism, by BMW’ will be open to the public, by registration-only, this weekend (23-24 September) from 10 AM to 10 PM.
