Mitsubishi’s high-performance and motorsports division, Ralliart, is set to be revived after an 11-year hiatus. This was revealed in Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC)’s FY2020 financial report.
The Ralliart sub-brand is aimed to strengthen what the company calls, “Mitsubishi-ness (or MMC-ness) driving.”
CEO of Mitsubishi, Takao Kato, said, “For customers who wish to experience our Mitsubishi-ness, we will launch custom-made accessories for our model lineup as well as re-entering motorsport events around the world.”
From the images in the financial report, the Mitsubishi Triton could be one of the first models to receive the Ralliart treatment.
But if we look closely to the model graphics in the “Realization of MMC-ness” section, it appears to be a small and large SUV, to which we suspect are the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross and Mitsubishi Outlander. Both of which are slated to arrive in 2023 or later.
As highlighted in the financial report, Mitsubishi is making a push towards electrification. Thus, we can expect the Ralliart models to feature hybrid powertrains.
