Mitsubishi Motors Corporation's (MMC) push towards electrification will see yet another model coming in 2022, the plug-in hybrid Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
It will be based on the latest-generation Outlander that made its global debut back in February 2021. Currently, the Outlander is powered by a 2.5-litre, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine (183 PS / 245 Nm) shared with the Nissan X-Trail.

By the looks of its development video, don't expect it to be a gentle giant - MMC has thoroughly given it the beans across bad weather, mud trails, and snow-capped peaks.
It should come as no surprise anyway as it is built upon Mitsubishi's experience with the previous-gen rally-specs Outlander PHEV.
The video also offers a glance at how a new model is developed, from the digital stages, clay modelling, conceptualisation and all the way to a working vehicle. Pretty cool stuff!
Beyond the Outlander PHEV, MMC's latest financial results for the 2020 Financial Year (fiscal year ending March 2020) confirms other upcoming vehicles too, namely a new Triton and revival of the i-MiEV in 2022, and an all-new Xpander Hybrid in 2023.
