Japanese customers have quite a bit of waiting to do for their all-new 2021 Honda HR-V (Vezel), as the waiting list stretches up to a year.
It's a catch-22 situation for Honda as the waiting list is a result of strong orders that's been complicated by the global semiconductor shortage, reports Japanese media.
Hybrid variants lead the list, with the range-topping 1.5 Play e:HEV commanding the year-long wait period. The mid-range 'Z' and 'X' e:HEV variants meanwhile have a 6-month waiting list.
Customers who've waited for the sole pure-petrol, base 'G' variant will have to wait 3 months, with no difference in delivery time regardless of whichever colour is chosen.
The HR-V got off to a dream start in Japan with over 32,000 bookings within the first month of sales, six times more than Honda's initial monthly sales target. 17,000 of those were from pre-orders even before the car was launched.

In the meantime, the all-new 2021 Honda HR-V has been spotted racking up test mileage in Thailand, but there is no further news whether or not it's coming to Malaysia, or replaced by the cheaper Honda WR-V.
