Ahead of its global debut next year, Honda has dropped several teasers of its upcoming 2022 Honda Civic Type R.
For now, Honda has yet to release any details surrounding its new performance hatchback, but judging by the photos, the next-gen Civic Type R will carry over a lot of the styling cues of the outgoing FK8 Civic Type R, including the massive rear wing and centrally-mounted triple exhaust set-up.

But that’s not all – the teasers revealed a cool easter egg, in the form of outlines of previous-generation Civic Type R models jumbled together with the symbolic R logo. This design is incorporated into the next-gen Civic Type R’s camouflage.
While Honda remained tight-lipped about the next-gen Civic Type R’s powertrain, some Japanese outlet claimed that the model will carry over the current model’s turbocharged 2.0-litre K20C petrol engine, albeit with an individual electric motor propelling each rear wheel – effectively making the model a hybrid.

At the moment, the FK8 Honda Civic Type R is motivated by the aforementioned engine that does 310 PS and 400 Nm, mated to a slick six-speed manual transmission that drives the front wheels.
