Honda has presented its refreshed Honda CR-V for the U.S. market, complete with refreshed styling, new features and hybrid powertrain for the local market.
Exterior changes are minor, include a bolder front bumper, restyled rear bumper garnish and new alloy wheel design that now measures 19-inch in diameter. The Honda CR-V hybrid gets an additional “Hybrid” moniker to set it apart.
Honda Sensing Advanced Driver Assistance System is fitted as standard on all CR-Vs sold in the U.S. More expensive variants enjoy 7-inch touchscreen Display Audio interface with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, remote engine start, Qi wireless charging tray and powered front seats.
The highlight of this facelift exercise is the introduction of the Honda CR-V hybrid uses the Honda Sport Hybrid i-MMD system which uses a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine paired to two electric motors. Combined output is rated at 212 PS, the same output as the Honda CR-V hybrid sold in the China market.
Unique to the CR-V Hybrid is an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) designed to increase awareness by pedestrians when travelling under electric-only power.
With Honda Malaysia moving towards an electrification future which coincides with the Malaysian Government’s roadmap, a hybrid-powered Honda CR-V may be destined for Malaysia.
