Previously, when we reported on the mind-boggling Proton Exora/ Mitsubishi Triton mesh up, we thought we’ve seen it all. But clearly, most of us have forgotten that Malaysia also has a one-off Proton Preve Ute on our roads.
The Proton Preve Ute is a one-off custom project that a private owner commissioned Bufori, a company specialising in hand-built vehicles, to build. Based on our research, the Preve Ute arrived at Bufori’s workshop as a standard 4-door Proton Preve sedan but left the doors a 2-door pick-up truck.
From the front, the Preve Ute remains the same as a regular Proton Preve. But from the B-pillar onwards, the regular Preve has given way to a truck bed. Interestingly, designers have maintained the Preve’s original rear-end looks.
Back when the Preve Ute first went viral back in 2016, it sparked rumours that we might see the return of the Proton Arena pick-up. It didn’t help that former Prime Minister, Tun Mahathir, was also pictured driving the ute.
But since then, no more news surfaced about the Proton Arena’s revival and the Proton Preve Ute was forgotten. The Preve Ute recently surfaced on the internet again as it was spotted parked around the Hartamas area.
What do you think about the Proton Preve Ute built by Bufori? Do you think we need more?
