All-new 2020 Nissan Almera detailed in Malaysia: 1.0L turbo and ADAS on all variants!

The wait is over - Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has released the specifications for the all-new 2020 Nissan Almera, and all you need to know about it is right here!

Powertrain and handling

Three variants will be available off the bat - VL, VLP, VLT - and all will be powered by a three-cylinder, 1.0-litre turbocharged engine paired to a CVT, good for 100 PS and 152 Nm.

Nissan claims that their new B-segment sedan fighter can return a fuel efficiency figure of 5.4-litres/100 km and in turn, travel up to 650 km on a full tank (35 litres). 

In terms of handling, the Almera will be fitted with MacPherson struts up front and torsion beams at the back. Braking is handled by a pair of ventilated discs for the fronts and drums behind - no matter the variant.

Exterior

6 colours are available, three of them brand new: Monarch Orange, Dark Metal Grey and Radiant Red. Staples such as Brilliant White, Diamond Black and Tungsten Silver are available as well.

The base Almera - VL - rolls around on 15-inch wheels while 16-inch units are fitted on VLP and VLT variants. All three trim levels have a 15-inch spare tyre too. 

One minor touch that's exclusive for the range-topping VLT is a subtle gloss black bootlid spoiler.

Dimensions

The Almera measures as such:

Overall, the all-new Almera is a slightly larger car than its predecessor: measuring 70 mm longer (previously 4,425 mm), 45 mm wider (previously 1,695 mm) and sitting 40 mm lower (previously 1,500 mm). 

The wheelbase has been lengthened by 20 mm (previously 2,600 mm) too.

...60:40 split-fold rear seats that come standard on all trim levels!

Under the boot, you'll find a full-sized spare tyre as well.

Variants and equipment

8 cupholders are standard, and so is a generous host of safety equipment.

Nissan's 'Zero Gravity' semi-bucket seats that claims to promote comfort for long drives are present for the driver and front passenger, and are available on all variants.

That said, leather seats are only available on the VLP and VLT trims, while VL gets fabric units.

In addition, VLP and VLT trims get a 7-inch semi-digital display on the instrument cluster.

As far as infotainment goes, trims higher than VL get an 8-inch touchscreen system that supports Apple CarPlay.

What's the price?

Below are the price estimates for the B-segment sedan. As expected, it is a lot more than the outgoing model due to the inclusion of the ADAS suite and turbo engine.

Bear in mind that these are SST-exempted prices and will rise after 31-December 2020.

For context, the outgoing Almera starts at RM 65,699.00 for the base E variant and RM 75,419.00 for the range-topping VL.

That said, the new models will come with 5-year unlimited mileage warranty with 5 times free maintenance service (parts & labour included).
