Closer look at the Malaysia-bound all-new 2023 Honda CR-V

The all-new 2023 Honda CR-V, codenamed RY for the turbocharged 1.5-litre models and RS for the petrol-electric e:HEV hybrid models, made its regional debut in Thailand earlier this week.

For this post, we bring you live photos of the upcoming 2023 Honda CR-V that’s Malaysia-bound, right from the ongoing 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show.

For Thailand, Honda will be offering 5 variants of the all-new 2023 CR-V:

• CR-V 1.5 Turbo E 2WD 5-seater: THB 1,419,000 (~RM 186k)
• CR-V 1.5 Turbo ES 2WD 5-seater: THB 1,599,000 (~RM 210k)
• CR-V 1.5 Turbo EL 4WD 7-seater: THB 1,649,000 (~RM 217k)
• CR-V 2.0 e:HEV ES 4WD 5-seater: THB 1,589,000 (~RM 209k)
• CR-V 2.0 e:HEV RS 4WD 5-seater: THB 1,729,000 (~RM 227k)

Several units of the all-new 2023 Honda CR-V were on display, including the turbocharged 1.5-litre variants, as well as those powered by Honda’s two-motor full hybrid e:HEV petrol-electric hybrid system.

Combined system output for the new petrol-electric hybrid is 185 PS and 335 Nm.

Also noteworthy is that Honda Thailand has dropped the older naturally-aspirated 2.4-litre and 1.6-litre turbodiesel engines of the predecessor model. The turbocharged 1.5-litre engine, which Malaysians are familiar with, is now offered on the Thai-spec CR-V.

Alongside the new powertrains, Honda has given the Thai-spec 2023 CR-V a serious bump in equipment.

Standard for all variants of the 2023 Honda CR-V include stuff like full LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED front fog lights, LED turn signal, automatic dual-zone air-conditioning, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, power-adjustable front seats, as well as a 9-inch infotainment system that pumps audio through an 8-speaker sound system.

Sitting on the top of the hierarchy is the CR-V 2.0 e:HEV RS and it gets some exclusive kit. There are the customary RS emblems fitted throughout the exterior and interior, Active Cornering Light (ACL), heads-up display, rear fog light, larger 19-inch alloy wheels, 12-speaker Bose sound system, and Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB).

Safety equipment for all variants of the 2023 Honda CR-V include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW), Automatic High Beam (AHB), Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-speed Follow (ACC with LSF), and Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN). Honda LaneWatch is also a standard fitment for all variants.

Airbag count for all variants is now 8, as the all-new CR-V now adds dual knee airbags to the mix.

Malaysians can expect the all-new 2023 Honda CR-V to reach dealerships later this year. The 2023 Honda CR-V is set to be one of four model launches that Honda Malaysia has planned for this year, with the other 3 being the Honda WR-V, Honda City facelift, and FL5 Honda Civic Type R.

Prices of the outgoing generation Honda CR-V starts from RM 146,900 for the entry 2.0-litre naturally aspirated i-VTEC variant. The highest specifications 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo AWD variant starts from RM 171,400.
