Mazda, Toyota, VW, Audi, BMW, and more are expected to announce new prices for maintenance soon, 8% service tax starts today

The new 8% service tax for vehicle maintenance and repair kicks in today in Malaysia. Brands that offer bundled free maintenance packages (which are usually costed into vehicle’s selling price) are expected to make some adjustments to their new car prices.

Bundling the service package into the price of the car allows the customer to include vehicle maintenance cost into the car’s financing.

At the time of publishing, it is still business as usual but checks with several companies revealed that many will be revising their new car prices soon.

Bermaz for example, offers 5-year free maintenance on all Mazda and Kia models except the Mazda BT-50 pick-up truck, covering not just parts and lubricants, but also labour. There will be a small revision in new car prices for Mazda and Kia models in Malaysia.

BMW Malaysia has also confirmed that it will be updating its master price list for models with extended warranty and service package. It’s a similar case with Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia and Audi Malaysia.

UMW Toyota Motor doesn’t bundle the extended service package into the prices of its cars, but the company offers a discounted Service Savers package. It is an optional item that buyers can include in the car’s purchase price. The current prices quoted will be revised accordingly.
