Video: All-new 2020 Nissan Almera 1.0L turbo first look, B-seg winner?

The new Nissan Almera 2020 garnered lots of interest when it was first shown to the world in the United States (known as the Nissan Versa).

Thailand was the first market in ASEAN to launch this all-new Almera 2020 and the car presented itself at the 36th Thailand International Motor Expo.

If you think the new Nissan Almera 2020 looks great in person, believe me when I say it looks even better in the metal.

The proportions and styling come into full effect when you’re looking at it in person. Nissan has done a fantastic job in making a B-segment sedan sit a car one segment up. One can only imagine how good the new Nissan Almera would look like when in motion.

What surprised us was the supportive seating position made possible by the low mounted seats, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel and the chunky side shoulder support.

For people who are particular about their seating position (enthusiast mostly), you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the new Almera. Others, however, might think the seating position is too low and uncomfortable (read: not seated like a couch).

For new Almeras bound for the Thailand market, they’ll be getting the HRA0 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and CVT automatic combo. The new powertrain pushes out 100 PS and 152 Nm of torque – making it the weakest turbocharged engine in the segment.

Edaran Tan Chong Motors (ETCM) have high hopes of launching the new Nissan Almera to the Malaysian market sometime in 2020. But it remains to be seen whether Malaysians will have the option for this turbo engine. Our guess, not very likely…
