Honda Malaysia just took the covers off the all-new tenth-generation Accord, a couple of weeks after bookings were opened.
For the first time ever, the Honda Accord gets a turbocharged engine in the form of a 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo 4-cylinder engine, churning out 201 PS and 260 Nm.
The new turbocharged mill replaces the outgoing Accord’s 2.0- and 2.4-litre naturally-aspirated engines.
Unlike the older model’s 5-speed torque converter automatic, the all-new Accord gets a CVT-type automatic.
Compared to the outgoing Accord with its typical 3-box design, the all-new model gets a sleek fastback side profile that is reminiscent of the Civic. The Accord also receives a similar chrome trim on the C-pillar.
Not that it's a bad thing, as the Accord, especially when viewed in person, is a really handsome sedan.
Couple that with the newly-designed 18-inch wheels, there's no mistaking the all-new Accord for the old model.
Interior - Completely overhauled
Honda has also redesigned the cabin of the all-new Accord – all variants (okay, it’s just two variants) receive a new 8.0-inch floating-style infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
The all-new Accord also gets an 11-speaker audio system, a sleek digital instrument cluster, and a Qi wireless charging pad.
Furthermore, the all-new Accord also gains a new shoulder adjustment switch, allowing the boss behind to push the front passenger seat forward. This has been a hallmark feature of the Toyota Camry for the longest time, and it’s nice to see it included on the Accord.
Like the outgoing Accord, the all-new model also gets the Honda Sensing ADAS suite, but with the addition of Low Speed Follow (LSF), something that the older model lacked due to its foot-operated parking brake. LSF requires an electric parking brake to function.
In addition to that, the all-new Accord 1.5 TC-P also gets Smart Parking Assist System, Cross Traffic Alert, and a 360-degree view monitor.
Prices of the all-new Honda Accord have increased over the outgoing model – it now starts from RM 185,900 for the 1.5 TC variant, while the 1.5 TC-P costs RM 195,900. The previous generation Accord was priced between RM 148,512 to RM 168,998.
